This course is an extension of the Swiss Hotel Operations Diploma, which covers the first two years of study at the Caux campus of SHMS in Montreux.

The third and final year, which consists of two semesters, is conducted on the scenic Leysin campus.

The highlight of the course is the Bachelor of Arts degree (honours) from the University of Derby UK, a leading university in the fields of tourism and hospitality, along with the Swiss Higher Diploma. The degree and diploma are conferred based on the choice of specialization after completing the hotel operations diploma.

Course Structure Year 1 (2 Semesters)

 

5 Months On campus followed by 4-6 months of a paid internship arranged by the Swiss Hotel Management School. Focus- Food & Beverage Management Top Subjects covered:

  • Food & Beverage Theory (Production & Service)
  • Food & Beverage Management Practice (Production & Service)
  • F&B Cost Control
  • Accounting
  • Business Communications
  • Wine & Bar
  • Information Systems
  • Additional Language (French or German)

 

This is followed by a paid internship of 4-6 months.

Year 2- (2 Semesters)

 

Like Year 1, the same pattern is followed for 5 months semester 1 on campus followed by a paid internship of 4-6 months. The focus of year 2 is Room division Management & Banquets

Paid Internship- Another 4-6 months internship is arranged by Swiss Hotel Management Schools to help students learn by practical and earn while they learn.

The front office or housekeeping-based internships are arranged this semester, and remuneration is equal to or over the CHF 2100 per month mark.

 

Year 3 (2 Semesters)

 

Semester 3 or the first semester of the third year is the semester for the Swiss Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management.

In this semester, the students are required to do a project management module. This is a good opportunity to start working on their dissertation. The second semester is dedicated to the University of Derby UK Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in Hospitality Management. This advanced module requires more understanding and application of the concepts learned in the previous two years.

Requirements and Additional Information

 

Additional Information To qualify for the British degree program, students must have completed a minimum of 12 years of education and must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall (with no band less than 5.5). You can convert currency on XE to understand the expenses and living costs better.

For a higher diploma you must have completed your secondary education and should be proficient in English (IELTS 5.5 and above or equivalent). There are 3 intakes per year in February, September, and November. It is advised to apply as early as possible due to the limited seats available. Also, it is advisable to apply at least 12-14 weeks before intake if you require a visa to study in Switzerland.
